A moment is only worth sealing if it truly arrives. Here is exactly how delivery works today, and what we're still building.
The time-lock is real
A capsule cannot be opened before its chosen moment — for anyone, including the sender. This is enforced on our server, not just in the app.
How a capsule reaches someone
- When you seal a capsule for someone, INHERIT creates a private link.
- Today, you deliver that link — by WhatsApp, message, or email, straight from the seal screen in one tap.
- At its unlock time, the recipient opens the link and the moment blooms.
What this means: today the guarantee is on the lock (it won't open early, and it's kept safe), not yet on automated arrival. If you don't send the link, it waits in your vault.
What we're building next
- Automated arrival: INHERIT sending the capsule to the recipient's email or phone itself, at the unlock moment — so nothing depends on you remembering.
- Trustee / legacy delivery: if a creator becomes inactive, a named trustee can confirm and release scheduled capsules.
- Long-term preservation: redundant, multi-decade storage with format succession.
Our commitment
We will not describe delivery as "guaranteed" until automated arrival and preservation are in place and tested. Until then, this page tells you the truth of what happens when you seal a moment.
